Happy Holiday!

It's off to Paphos, Cyprus for the holidays! Here's a picture:

No this not the hotel! It's Paphos Castle, an old fort which used to protect the harbour.

Holidays!

Many thanks to Fiona for the advice and all the hard work she is  putting into this for us. I’ve been out of the office for a while, and so I’ve fallen a bit behind, and I’m going on leave today so I won’t have internet access for a while. It’s lovely being able to abuse the computer at work, but it can be such an inconvenience! I’ll have to write a letter of complaint to someone.

To all my fellow bloggers starting out on this adventure, have a great holiday and a wonderful Christmas.

And now let's see about getting that photograph in ...

Read all about it!

Sometimes it's hard to get kids to use the school library. Try promoting it by having a competition to see who can come up with the most aptly named authors for book titles. These can also be illustrated and used as posters to promote the library.  Some examples are given in the list on the right. Also, put up some jokes and things to read on the boards or walls. That way the library won't seem so stuffy and formal, and the children will be encouraged to read other posters and information on the boards as well.

Read All About It
At a library a little boy takes a large book off the shelf and tells the librarian he wants to take it out. She’s surprised to see the title: A Comprehensive Guide for Mothers.
“Is this book for your mom?” she asks.
“No,” the boy replies.
“Then why do you want to take it out?”
“I started collecting moths last week.”

First blog

This is just a trial run for the course. I sincerely hope I'll come up with something more interesting when I can devote some more time to this.
